Music has been in Annika Eriksson’s life for as long as she can remember. As the daughter of a piano teacher, she began instruction on both piano and violin at the age of 3. Annika started teaching privately in 2003 as a high school Senior and fell in love with the teaching process. Helping students of all ages and levels reach their musical dreams has always been her passion.
Annika went on to studying Music Education and graduated with honors from Augsburg University with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. In college, she served as a tutor for music theory and aural skills classes; she has specialized study in orchestral conducting and composition; and one of her compositions was premiered in concert by the Augsburg Symphony Orchestra.
In addition to her classical training, she also specializes in traditional Swedish folk music. Annika served as Artistic Director for the American Swedish Institute Lilla Spelmanslag for 5 years and brought the youth ensemble on tour to Sweden in 2008.
Upon graduation, she worked in the Eastern Carver County schools and helped establish an elementary string program within the district’s community education. Most recently, Annika has taught 4th-8th grade orchestra in the Mounds View Public Schools beginning in 2010 through 2022.
With the birth of her son in 2022, Annika brought her teaching focus back to private lessons so she can remain home during the day. Teaching in her home at Enrichmond Ave Music Studio is enriching to her life as much as she strives to enrich her students lives through music! Annika holds professional memberships in MNSOTA, ASTA, MMTA, and MTNA.
Outside of music/teaching, Annika enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, nature, and running races of all distances.
